Barrett’s Burblings

Hello everyone. This week I’m afraid that we only have time for a very slimline version of LEMnAID, as I have lots of preparation still to do for this Wednesday’s conference, not to mention a chunky meeting with the national Back to Church Sunday Team tomorrow.

And this week we start with this week’s conference…

Urgent Prayer Request

George and I would really value your prayers for this week’s Healing and Deliverance Conference. Over the last two weeks two of the key speakers in Gareth Davies and Jeff Leonardi have both had to pull out because of the failing health of very elderly parents. Coupled with that, George is making only a slow recovery from a reoccurrence of a nasty virus that has laid him very low. I am also aware of at least 2 delegates with their own health concerns whose recovery has not been going as was forecast and expected.

The team have not felt that all of this has been coincidental, and believe that it is an indication that at least some force may not wish the conference to go ahead.

Can I please eagerly request that this week you may pray for;

·         The health of Jeff’s Mom, Gareth’s Dad, and George himself.

·         Safety for all those concerned, particularly in travel on Wednesday Morning and Friday Afternoon.

·         Our remaining speakers George Fisher, Peter Mockford, and Roger Vaughan, and for all those they love.

·         Similarly for all the 51 delegates, for Sally Vaughan as our co-chaplain (with Roger), and myself trying to bring the ever-changing practicalities together.

·         That anything any unhelpful forces may be afraid of happening – may very much happen just the same!

Youth and Children’s Bulletin

Last week our Youth and Children’s Adviser Mark Hatcher produced his latest bulletin, which is full of lots of good stuff for Christmas; and it is well worth a read at; http://bit.ly/sZ6HjX

Christmas Aid Advent Calendar

Only today I’ve received the following from my old chums at Christian Aid;

A thought-provoking, chocolate-free countdown to the Christmas celebration

Yesterday we launched our online Advent calendar: a series of short daily reflections as virtual candles light up against a backdrop of faces of those whose lives are being changed by our work. The reflections take visitors on several journeys - Mary and Joseph's visit to Bethlehem, our own personal journeys from darkness into light, and thoughts from various Christian Aid partners from around the world. See it at www.christianaid.org.uk/advent
